Remembering Sara Venn: A force for good in Bristol’s food and growing movement
By Bristol Food Network
All of us at Bristol Food Network were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Sara Venn, founder of Edible Bristol. We’re sending our heartfelt condolences to her family – we are so sorry for your loss.
Sara was a passionate and visionary force in Bristol’s food and growing movement, founding Edible Bristol in 2014 and helping communities transform forgotten spaces into vibrant, productive gardens.
A grower, teacher, activist, and connector, she championed ecological gardening and food justice, and held key roles including Chair of Bristol Food Producers and Trustee of Feeding Bristol.
Sara worked closely with Bristol Food Network over many years, and her energy, warmth, and unwavering commitment to building a better food system touched countless lives in our city.
Her legacy will continue to grow in the gardens she nurtured and the communities she inspired. We are considering ways we could honour her memory and impact and will share more on this shortly.
