Cook with Valeria & Kenneth, learn Nicaraguan cuisine!
Online, This is an online event
Learn how to cook Empanadas de Platano Maduro (Plantain Empanadas) served with a side of rice & beans with married couple Valeria & Kenneth and Bianchi’s Group Ben Harvey. Aid Box Community’s online cookalong courses are a simple, fun, and engaging way of learning how to cook international foods with refugees based in Bristol.
We are so excited to see Kenneth and Valeria cook this unusual sweet and salty dish which hails from their home country of Nicaragua. This is a simple vegetarian dish (with vegan option) that is a classic in Latin America, truly loved by all!
“Since I was the firstborn, I would help my mom in the kitchen. When she was away, I had to cook for my sisters and my dad. I slowly fell in love with food and love to cook. And eat it too, of course.” – Kenneth
Valeria & Kenneth live in a hotel, where they don’t have the opportunity to cook for themselves.
“When we are given the opportunity to cook, it excites us and makes us remember our country, our family, our essence.”
Difficulty: Moderate. Adult supervision for frying needed. Vegetarian, Nut free. £30.
