DATES AND LOCATION

Tuesday 6 October, 3–6pm
Tuesday 13 October, 3–6pm
Coexist Community Kitchen, Easton
You can attend one workshop or several, although joining all three will give you the fullest experience. There are 12 places at each workshop.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN?
Participants will prepare healthy, affordable meals together in a friendly community kitchen.
The workshops will help people build confidence, learn useful cooking skills, share food knowledge and discover practical ways to cook well on a limited budget.
The sessions may include preparing seasonal ingredients, basic kitchen skills, adapting recipes for different diets, batch cooking, reducing food waste and making affordable meals that can be recreated at home.
SHARE YOUR FOOD KNOWLEDGE
We also want to learn from participants.
People will be invited to share recipes, flavours and food traditions that are important to them. Together, the group will help develop five healthy and affordable recipes.
No one will be expected to speak for a community or share anything personal.
The exact dishes will be shaped by the group and adapted around dietary requirements and allergies. Vegetarian and vegan options will be available.
WHAT IS INCLUDED?
Everything is free, including the workshops, ingredients, food, tea and coffee.
No previous cooking experience is needed. You can participate at your own pace, take breaks and choose which activities you feel comfortable joining.
THE GROWING WORKSHOPS
The cooking workshops are part of Grow Cook Share.
The programme begins with three food-growing workshops at The Haven Community Garden on Tuesdays 8, 15 and 22 September, from 10am to 1pm.
You do not have to attend the growing workshops to join the cooking sessions.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The programme is for adults aged 18+ living in Easton, Barton Hill and Lawrence Hill.
We particularly welcome people who do not usually feel included in food, nature or creative activities. This includes people on low incomes, refugees and migrants, Global Majority communities, LGBT+ people, and disabled or neurodivergent people.
You do not need to identify with a particular label to take part.
TRAVEL AND PARTICIPATION SUPPORT
Bus fares can be covered for participants living in BS5.
Some taxi journeys may also be covered where needed and agreed in advance.
Please contact us to discuss access, travel, childcare, dietary requirements or anything else that would help you participate.
FILMING
A local women-led filmmaking team will make a short film about the programme.
Being filmed is completely optional. You can attend every workshop without appearing in the film.
