Food Waste

December update

In January 2025, Bristol embarks on an exciting new chapter in creating a healthier, fairer and more sustainable food system. A series of action-planning workshops, hosted by Bristol Good Food 2030, will bring together diverse voices from across the city to co-create Bristol’s Food Action Plans for 2025-26.

On Thursday 16 January, the focus will be on Food Waste, exploring ways to reduce, redistribute, and recycle food and packaging. This workshop is part of a broader series aligned with the key themes of Bristol Good Food 2030 and its vision for 2030. By taking a ‘whole food system’ approach, the initiative ensures every aspect of Bristol’s food landscape is thoughtfully addressed.

Bristol Food Network volunteer Matilda Grove recently spotlighted the city’s innovative efforts to tackle food waste in a story for Bristol Good Food 2030. From redistributing surplus food to empowering consumers with practical solutions, Bristol is making strides. As Christmas approaches, it’s a timely reminder that we all have a role to play in reducing waste and spreading joy.
