Eating Better
- The Bristol Eating Better Award team has been updating their three-year plan for the awards. This includes a focus on expanding the award to further education and hot food takeaway settings. The award supports organisations that provide healthier food options and promote food and environmental sustainability.
- Bristol City Council’s Healthy Schools team has been refreshing their food specialist award for schools with updated guidance and resources. The award gives advice on food, drink and nutrition in schools to support children to eat and drink healthily. The updated award will be trialled by schools in the autumn term.
- The Children’s Kitchen ran an event with children during Food Justice Fortnight where they got input from children on what they would like to find out about food to support the creation of a Food Education Charter. Further workshops with children on the charter will be delivered as part of the Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme over the summer holidays.
- The Wild Goose Day Centre is launching cookery classes for its service users. The course will cover essential skills like food hygiene, knife skills and creative ways to use basic ingredients. The course is a five-week programme that they are planning to run four times a year subject to funding. Find out more on our Bristol Good Food blog
