Good Food Governance

July update

  • Representatives from Bristol Food Network, Feeding Bristol and Public Health went on a knowledge exchange trip to Birmingham, meeting their food systems team and colleagues working on food systems change in Finland. Valuable insight was exchanged on urban growing, food justice, procurement and the local food economy, which will be fed into future projects.

Food Disaster Risk Planning

  • The first workshop was delivered with community organisations to start development of a food disaster risk plan for the city. It focussed on participants’ experiences of providing food during the pandemic, mapping out how provision was managed and discussing successes and challenges.
  • The team involved in developing the plan (the University of Bristol, the University of the West of England, Feeding Bristol and Bristol Food Network) are also gathering inputs through interviews with key stakeholders and are planning the second workshop for the autumn. This will be focussed on using the learning from the pandemic to start to inform the creation of a food disaster risk plan for Bristol.
