November update

Food Equality Strategy and Action Plan (FESAP)

Work is progressing on the new three-year Food Equality Strategy and Action Plan (FESAP), with seven community conversations underway to ensure the voices of people with lived experience shape the next phase of work. Stakeholder workshops are scheduled for 27 November and 4 December (online), focusing on reviewing progress to date and identifying key priorities for the upcoming plan. Findings will be analysed early in the new year, with a draft action plan expected by late March or early April.

Alongside this, engagement continues through the Bristol Food Education Charter, which began with input from over 200 children and young people on what they want from food education. New funding is supporting the next stage – practical trials to explore how the charter’s ambitions can be delivered in real settings. This phase is being led by Feeding Bristol in partnership with Square Food Foundation, the University of Bristol, 91 Ways, and The Pony Farm Bus, with further involvement from Bristol City Council’s Schools and Healthy Schools teams, as well as Hannah Woodhouse, Executive Director for Children & Young People.

Feeding Bristol has also launched the Freedom Kids podcast and expanded its online resources, including recipes and food education materials, all available via the Bristol Food Education Charter webpage.
