Eating Better

BS3 Jammin’ is coming soon!

By Cags Diep

Cags Diep, who works in music management and volunteers at BS3 Community Food Bank, gives an update about the BS3 Jammin’ event and how to get involved.

It’s that time of year again – BS3 Jammin’ is just around the corner (7-8 September – find out more) and we need your help to make it even more amazing than last year!

If you weren’t there, you missed out on an incredible community harvest celebration. We collected over 300kg of homegrown fruits and veggies, created 16 different preserves and dishes, and raised money to create recipe kits using fresh produce for BS3 Community Food Bank.

Plus, we had volunteer chefs (including Mark Chapman from COR restaurant) cooking up a storm all weekend!

This year, we want to go even bigger. That’s where you come in! We’re looking for:

  1. Volunteers to help with food prep, activities including apple pressing, and general event support
  2. Donations of surplus homegrown produce from your gardens or allotments
  3. Financial contributions to help run the event

Remember, this event is all about reducing food waste, learning to cook and preserve, and bringing our community together.

The cooking competition is on again this year where this year Box-E will be the judge, the only rule is USE SOMETHING FROM THE HARVEST – deadline is 2pm on Sunday 8 September.

We’ll have an exciting prize in store for the winner!

Whether you can spare an hour, a bag of apples, or a few quid, every bit helps. Let’s make this year’s BS3 Jammin’ unforgettable!
