‘Bring Your Own Lunchbox’ survey

By Ramona Andrews

Redcliffe & Temple Business Improvement District is inviting people to complete a survey about the ‘Bring Your Own Lunchbox’ campaign, which encouraged customers to bring reusable containers to buy food from the Temple Quay Market and Finzels Reach Market. As a thank you for completing this survey, you’ll have the chance to win free lunch for two at either of the markets.

Plastic waste has become a significant environmental issue worldwide, with single-use plastics being a substantial contributor to this problem. The disposal of these plastics, such as containers used for street food, often ends up in landfills or oceans, posing a threat to wildlife and ecosystems. To address this issue, Redcliffe & Temple Business Improvement District launched the ‘Bring Your Own Lunchbox’ campaign in April 2022, which aimed to raise awareness about single-use plastic waste.

The campaign encouraged customers to bring their reusable containers to buy food from the Temple Quay Market and Finzels Reach Market, with some vendors offering discounts for those who did. Redcliffe & Temple Business Improvement District now wants to take this initiative to the next level by encouraging more people to bring their own lunchboxes. To achieve this, they are working with market hosts Square Route Events and Sophie Bowden Events to raise awareness of how switching to a reusable lunchbox can make a significant difference in reducing single-use waste.

To make it easier for people to bring reusables to the market, local offices have been encouraged to keep some on hand for employees to take with them to the markets. The success of this initiative will depend on the cooperation of market customers – Redcliffe & Temple Business Improvement District is optimistic about the response to the initiative, as they have received positive feedback from visitors to the markets so far.

The BID is inviting people to complete a survey about the campaign. As a thank you for completing this survey, you’ll have the chance to win free lunch for two at either of the markets. Complete the survey here. By joining the initiative and using a reusable lunchbox, market users can help reduce single-use plastic waste and make a positive contribution to the environment.

To learn more about the campaign and to download posters to display in your office or shop, visit the Redcliffe & Temple Business Improvement District website. The survey for the campaign will close at 4pm on 15 May.
