Nurture the Land & Nature Networking

Sustainable Sidekicks

Address:
Bridge Farm, Glenfrome Road, BS16 1BQ

More Info

Connecting people who want to work, grow, rewild, live, commune, invest and acquire land in the UK and Europe.

Following the popularity and success of the first event in May, the event will run again in June with a host of different speakers and more time to connect with other attendees. Tickets are limited in number.

Do you have a calling to be closer to nature, to get back to a more simpler way of living and working or to use your finances in a more unconventional way to benefit planet and people rather than big oil?

With the cost of land in the UK, it can feel impossible to make the transition to land-based living, work or leaving land for nature recovery. Yet there are stories, examples and models of people coming together, thinking outside of the traditional models and making things happen.

If you have dreams and ambitions and going alone isn’t part of it, join this event to find your people, get inspired and see what is possible.

THIS IS FOR YOU IF YOU DREAM OF……

– Working land in a low impact way e.g agroforestry, permaculture, coppicing

– Starting a rewilding or nature regeneration project

– Building an off-grid community

– Investing money to safe-guard or improve an area for nature

– Relocating to another county or country to live the goodlife with more options or more sun

DO YOU…..

– Want to meet like-minded people to make these ambitions a reality

– Have land but lack the skills or time to do the things you aspire to do

– Have funds you want to invest in a positive way

– Have ambitions to return to your mother country or move abroad to start a project

THE FORMAT

The session will include a mixture of short talks, facilitated discussions, Q&A sessions and facilitated networking between people with similar interests (a bit like speed-dating) and time for open-networking.

During the event we will identify how people can continue to connect, develop ideas and meet-up moving forward. Plus identify who would like to be involved in running a whole day even later in the year.

LIGHTNING TALKS

The confirmed speakers will share their experiences, challenges and insights during five minute lightning talks, followed by break-out sessions where attendees can ask them questions. Speakers to be announced shortly. Join the mailing list for updates.

If you can share your experience of starting a co-operative, a rewilding project, community living or growing project or project abroad register here as a speaker: https://forms.gle/T2PFzNwAQCr3e8PaA

VOLUNTEERS

The events are 100% volunteer run and we need a number of people on the day to make the event run smoothly. You will have time to participate in all of the event:  https://forms.gle/fXgFAgVPCY3uRYuE9

REFRESHMENTS

There will be hot drinks, cold soft drinks and samosas included in the ticket price.

It’s a ‘bring your own cup’ or help with the washing up set-up

Its BYO for alcohol

TICKETS

This has a pay-what-you-can structure.

The fee is to cover the space, refreshments and facilitation of the event.

Any surplus will be donated to a local nature / community fund or towards a bigger event (if people want to organise).

BACKGROUND

Sustainability and Behaviour Change Consultant (Sustainable Sidekicks), Livvy Drake, has been exploring how she can make her rewilding-agroforestry-off-grid dreams a reality in the UK and Europe. A key component of this is meeting other people.

In Bristol, she knows there are lots of other people with their own dreams.

“I have countless conversations where other people who share their aspirations of coppicing forest in England, building a cob house on their land in Spain, going off-grid in Europe. So I thought it would reach out and convene an event to bring people together and see what could flourish from this encounter. I have no expectations and am not attached to the outcomes.“
