Good Food Jobs & Opportunities Update: May 2026

By Ramona Andrews

Welcome to May’s Bristol Good Food 2030 Jobs & Opportunities Update.

As a reminder, good food jobs are about…

  • promoting and encouraging people to cook from scratch, grow their own and eat more fresh, seasonal, local, organically grown food.
  • championing the use of local, independent food shops and traders to help keep Bristol’s high street vibrant and diverse.
  • promoting and encouraging the use of good-quality land in and around Bristol for food production.
  • promoting and encouraging the redistribution, recycling and composting of food waste.
  • advancing education about the part that food, nutrition and lifestyle can play in meeting the needs of disadvantaged individuals, families and groups in the community, and encouraging social inclusion and social cohesion.

Find or share kitchen space with Produce West

Do you run a kitchen that’s not in use every day – or are you looking for affordable, professional kitchen space to grow your food business?

The Produce West Kitchen Connect platform is now live – a new online service connecting underused kitchens with food entrepreneurs across the West of England.

Kitchen Connect tackles a long-standing challenge: while professional kitchens often sit empty, food businesses struggle to access suitable, affordable space. Now, the platform brings the two together – making it easier to test ideas, increase production or move beyond a home setup without long-term leases or high upfront costs.

By signing up, you can:

  • List your kitchen and generate income from existing space
  • Find flexible, affordable kitchens that match your needs
  • Be part of a growing regional network strengthening the local food economy

From community halls and churches to cafés and catering kitchens, a wide range of spaces are already being listed.

The Food WorksSW programme

The Food WorksSW is a food and drink innovation centre in Weston-super-Mare. As a CIC, they invest back into the community and at the moment they have a funded project running to support businesses in Bristol, North Somerset, BaNES and South Gloucestershire.

If you are a food and drink manufacturer, cafe, restaurant, market trader or work in hospitality then you could access free support to help your business grow.

Some examples of how this free support can be delivered are:

– Product development work in our development kitchens
– Food certification support – e.g. SALSA
– Technical issues – HACCP
– Shelf-life extension
– Recipe costings
– Label checks
– Product scale-up
– Nutritional Analysis

Register here and one of the team will be in touch to discuss your requirements
